Nicholas Simon Augustine Knowles (born ) is an English television presenter, writer, and musical artist. He is best known for his presenting roles on the BBC and game shows.
Knowles was born on 21 September 1962 in Southall, Middlesex. He spent his childhood in Mildenhall and Tunbridge Wells in Kent. He has 4 siblings; a brother and three sisters.
He studied at St Louis Middle School, Gunnersbury Catholic School for Boys, and Skinners’ School in Tunbridge Wells, Kent. At age 16, he dropped out of school. He took on several entry-level jobs like laboring on building sites, working in a petrol station, and selling shoes and carpets.
Nicks started his career as a runner in TV production. He later became a presenter and Reporter for TVS where he reported on their past to Coast night news He also presented for ITV on a show called Ridge Riders in the 1990s.
His breakthrough came when he became the main host of DIY SOS, a home renovation show on BBC One that has been aired since 1999. He has also hosted and presented several game shows. He has been guested on multiple TV shows too. His shows include Who Dares Wins, Break the Safe, and 5-Star Family Reunion.Â
Knowles is the co-writer of the movie Golden Years which was released on April 28, 2016. He also released his first music album on November 3, 2017. He has been a musician since he was 14. He used to be in a musical band as a teenager.
