In a recent altercation at a Manhattan subway station, Ethan Reyes, better known as Notti Osama, was fatally stabbed. On social media, the 14-year-old brother, DD Osama, also paid tribute to him after the tragedy on July 11.
He wrote, “Like why did you leave me? Why you tell me that death is easy?”
Notti Osama death: What happened to Notti Osama?
In a fight with a 15-year-old rival at the 137th Street/City College subway station at 3 p.m. on July 9, Notti Osama was stabbed. Then, at Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital, Osama passed away.
The cause of the altercation was not disclosed, according to law enforcement authorities, but it is clear that the two teenagers were at odds with one another. Police have already taken the suspect into custody. He or she has been charged with first-degree manslaughter and criminal possession.
Initially, the 15-year-old was charged with second-degree murder. That changed, though, when the prosecution learned that Reyes had cornered the defendant and was accosting him with a broomstick. Ethan and the others with him soon outnumbered the accused, but when he attempted to run, the accused stabbed him.
The police found the knife and the broomstick at the crime scene. They also saw that the act had been caught on camera.
Even though it’s not clear who the suspect is, authorities say he was taken to New York Presbyterian Hospital with stab wounds.
Richard Davey, president of the MTA NYC Transit, said: “We thank NYPD detectives, with whom we cooperated, for the rapid arrest of a suspect. That he and the victim are said to have known each other further underscores this senseless nature of this tragic incident.”
Who was Notti Osama?
Notti Osama was a 14-year-old drill rapper from New York. Drill rap is a genre that generally involves taunting rivals. Authorities believe this may have been what led to the fatal fight.
Osama was the youngest of six children and released visuals for his new single titled “Without You” with his brother two weeks ago. Lily Ortega, who is Osama’s cousin, called him a happy and loving child who loved spending time with his family.

After hearing the news of the rapper’s passing, tributes poured in.
One of the rapper’s buddies remarked at a candlelight memorial that he had a million-dollar smile that was held in Manhattan. The unnamed person further stated that Reyes was driven to become a rapper and worked hard every day to realize his dream.
People who knew the young rapper flocked to Twitter to express their sorrow at the news of his passing.
The funds for Ethan’s funeral were raised through a GoFundMe page set up by his pals. The target was established at $10,000, and by July 11 it had already raised more than $5,700.
