“He better pray to God that I don’t find him”, Canelo Alvarez threatens Lionel Messi after video shows the Argentina captain ‘kicking’ Mexico jersey

Mexican World champion boxer Canelo Alvarez threatens Lionel Messi after video shows the Argentina captain ‘kicking’ Mexico jersey.

Canelo Alvarez, a Mexican boxer who holds the title of world champion, has threatened Lionel Messi, the top player for Argentina’s national football team, after accusing him of insulting his nation’s flag.

In Sunday’s 2-0 victory over Mexico, Messi scored for Argentina to keep his country’s World Cup hopes alive. However, a video of the Paris Saint-Germain forward and his teammates celebrating in the locker room caught Alvarez’s eye.

Messi took off his boots and looked to kick a Mexican jersey or flag that was on the ground during the celebration.

Reacting to the incident, Alvarez tweeted: ‘Did you guys see Messi cleaning the floor with our jersey and flag,’.

‘He better pray to God that I don’t find him.

‘Just like I respect Argentina, he has to respect Mexico!

‘I’m not talking about the country as a whole, just about the bulls**t that Messi did.’
